Default Summer Activities For Children

So ladies, for some of you your children are already out of school, for others, like myself, there's just a week or less of school left before summer vacation. So what exactly do you have planned to keep them kids from screaming that they are bored all summer long.

Personally, I am a bit stuck. We are saving money to move so we were not able to get our usual season passes to Hershey Park this year or even public pool passes. Plus I don't drive, so I am really limited on activities I can do. However, I am going to try my best to keep my kids occupied. They have friends that are like family who can sleep over and we all have a great time. They seem to all be reading a heck of a lot lately. They've literally been reading more than watching TV.... gasp! So I know they'll be outside lounging around reading. I would really like to work with my oldest son over the summer on some of the weaker areas he has academically speaking via some workbooks we purchased. Of course when the husband's home I am sure we will go out to Memorial Lake and have many picnics and walk the trails... which doesn't cost us a penny... yeah! Of course my kids love to watch scarey movies late into the night and sleep in... which is something I like to do as well so I'm sure we will be doing that a lot. And finally, what do we have planned for the summer... packing... lots of packing. Grrrr! I hate moving!

Well, my children are grown, so this doesn't really apply, but... when I was growing up, noone "kept me busy." By the same token, I never "kept my kids busy."

I was never bored, they were never bored, and summer was all to short. Go figure. Perhaps my cases are a bit different, since living in the country had a lot to do with being occupied and happy. I highly recommend it.

I have been meaning to post this for a while. LadyV I noticed you are from Hershey,PA.
I used to drive for LCL Bulk Transport and I just about lived at Hershey at the chocolate Plant.
That is a historic little town. I always had a great time going there. I was probably there 3 maybe 4 times per week.
Our terminal was in Elizabethtown,PA just a few miles south of there. We hauled that chocolate all over the place.

There is a Steak House in E-Town we would alwasy go to it had a huge parking lot and pretty good food also.
We also loaded from and hauled into M & M Mars there in E-Town I just thought it was neat seeing someone on here from a place that I was so familiar with.
Well lot's of luck with the kids (ours is grown and moved out) but we now have a grandbaby to enjoy when she comes down to visit.

Oh yea lot's of luck with the move. I hate moving as we have moved quite a bit in 11 years.

One summer I made a schedule for them, mainly because I have one that does better when he has a schedule to follow.
However, I find that my kids pretty much entertain themselves.....they like walking in the woods, playing ball together, reading, sometimes watch movies.

We don't have the extra money to do season passes to anywhere....so a picnic at the beach is sometimes a fun thing to do, or bike rides together.

My oldest will be working somewhere this summer...either at his Papa's house cutting wood, or at summer camp. Moist likely doing wood with papa will be the thing.
My seond son will have summer schol. My daughter will be home, although each of them will have a week of summer camp.
Summer seems to go so fast, I don't worry about what they will do....they are intelligent enough to figure out what they want to do.
