Default Parking lights - 66 Chev Pickup - Need help

Problem is with front parking lights. Parking lights, but when I turn on the headlights, the front parking lights go off. Turn signals work ok with light on or off. After checking grounds and even running a temporary ground directly to one of the parking light sockets, I can not find a problem. Almost all the wiring in the truck is brand new. I never had the truck running before, so I don't know if it is working properly. I never had another vehicle that turned off the parking lights when the headlights came on!

i thought back in the day that was the norm! i can remember some of the gto's where the same way, you might have to jumper it in the switch so the park lights come on with the headlights!
