Québec is a province within Canada like Kansas is a State within the United States of America except for Quebec is far from being united with Canada.
There is a political faction and a percentage of the French population of Quebec who wish to leave the Confederation of Canada and has for the last 45 years or so made it clearly known to the rest of Canada by internal political referendums seeking a majority vote to seperate from Canada, Whew!
Quebec politicians over the years have passed several bills in the province of Quebec protecting the rights and french language of Francophone citizens.

Canadian Prime Ministers have even given the Province of Quebec special
status as a distinct society which means different from everyone else in North America in order to keep them in the Confederation of Canada.

Bill 101 is a law passed by Quebec restricting the use of english in Quebec by
anyone wanting to advertise in english for example, « truck drivers wanted ».
The add must read « Chauffeurs demandé » ( In french )
The stink going on right now in regards to this Company,s operations being shut down is that several english words were illegally used in a french Chauffeurs Demandé ad! ( Which is all bad )
The low down sneaky executives of Buffalo Springfield Transport attempted a coup de grace by trying to slip a fast one by the french Government officials and language Police by inserting three english words into their wanted add.
The three illegal words were " North American Tour " ( Imagine that! )
Whew! .............Are you getting all of this?
It don't take very much for some of these people with a little bit of authority in the Quebec Government to get all hot and bothered by a few english words in an add offering good paying jobs to some of Quebec's unemployed!!
The Jobs offered were truck driving jobs delivering Canadian commodities into the United States of America where to get across the border, truck drivers must speak good english anyway!! ( Which is all good )
Not wanting to end up being fined or imprisioned by the French Language Police,the Company apoligised to everyone in the french Government who were terribly offended by the use of a few english words and the dang jobs went to Ontario Canada, so Quebec ended up with less job opportunities as they have for the last 45 years or so, and the people who are making most of the fuss about the english wording don't care because they've got good paying jobs in the Government!
It's the poor unemployed who suffer because of some of Quebec's over zealous Government officials!
Thousands of excellent paying stable jobs have left Quebec because of the
political situation and it ain't gettin any better, believe me, which is all bad!!
This political language issue in Quebec is unfortunate and affects everyone living and working in Quebec and as i have observed over the last 40 years, the only people who really profit from this seperatist movement are the greedy politicians in the Quebec Government!
The average joe on the streets of Quebec just wants to live, work and prosper without going through all of the economic hardship an independant Quebec would have to endure for many many years!
Face it! a lot of business in Quebec is Canadian, British or American for example,
Walmart, Mcdonalds, Rolls Royce, PACCAR, GM, Nestle, Kraft, Flying-J,
and I could go on and on naming North American Companies employing Quebecers and contributing largely to Quebec's economy!
So I guess english ain't too bad after, but the way I write english, I would'nt blame Quebec Government officials for shutin me down! Dang!
