Default The fun is over in Quebec!!

Quebec could soon mandate speed limiters

Following in Ontario’s footsteps, the province of Quebec may soon make speed limiters mandatory on all heavy trucks – regardless whether they are base plated there or just passing through.

Transportation Minister Julie Boulet of Transports Quebec has announced the filing of legislation that includes governing heavy trucks at a maximum of 105 kilometers per hour, or 65 mph.

Boulet’s legislation would also initiate a ban on hand-held cell phones while driving, stiffen penalties for drinking and driving, and implement a photo radar pilot project.

Boulet’s July 5 announcement arrived just three days after Ontario Transportation Minister Donna Cansfield announced legislation for speed limiters in that province.

Speed-limiting devices, equipped on most trucks manufactured since 1995, are activated through a truck’s computer system. Proponents claim officers would enforce the law at roadside stops and weigh stations through the use of hand-held devices.

Trucks, regardless of where they originate – including those from the U.S. – would be subject to the law in Ontario or Quebec, should the legislation pass.

Boulet said the Quebec National Assembly could vote on the measure by the end of the year. Their session resumes in October.

A committee in the predominantly French-speaking province recommended the measures following a study that lasted more than a year, according to Canadian media reports.

Well now there taking all the fun outta driving through Quebec!
What did we do to deserve this??
The Quebec Ministry of Transport puttin the brakes on our drivin a hundred and fifty miles an hour, hammer down through Quebec's beautiful smooth highways talkin on the silly phone with Monique and Isabelle while drinkin a few dozen cold beers and doin a couple shots of Jack Daniels on a hot summers day??
Now i'm really Mad!! Can you imagine the nerve of those people??

They did'nt say anything about drivin and smokin, did they?
