Wink Not so bad after all

Heading back east from San José California with a load of fresh produce,
I got pulled into and around the back of the scales in Utah.
I thought to myself,Oh! Oh! now what?
As I gathered up my paper work and Log Book I realised that I had'nt drawn a line in the last five or six hours,Dang! now I was in trouble!!
How could I have forgot to draw the line,Oh! well! I thought, I'm going to pay
for it now,so I jumped down from the truck with papers in hand and slowly headed towards the scale house like Dead MAN Walking.
I opened the door of the scale house and got a blast of cold air all the time clutching my log book hoping they would'nt ask for it,but as I approached
the desk I noticed this silver haired Lady looked like my aunt Bea with a big smile lookin at me like
I was Kin folk comin to visit after a long time gone.
She greeted me with a Howdy, how ya doin today Sir?? I just about fell
face first on to the counter, and I'm thinking this is going to be alright after
all,I'm going to get outta here without her lookin at my Log Book.
She had a uniform on which clearly identified her as DOT and to beat it all,
she was the Boss Lady cause she had Bars on her shoulders.
My paperwork was spread out all over the counter top as she closely examined everything which may have took a minute and a half but seemed to be an eternity to me.
She finally stacked the paper work along with my log book and inserted it back in it's folder gently pushing it over to me and said, thankyou kindly Sir,have a nice day.
My heart skipped a beat as I rejoiced in knowing that I had beat the odds
for once,I was leaving the scale without even a mention about my log book,
Yeehaaa!!!
I nervously grabbed my permit folder thanking her and began to point myself towards the exit which looked like it was a mile away.
I got to the out door and reached for the handle and just at that moment,
I heard the DOT Lady say...Oh! by the way Sir! get your Log Book straight before you leave the yard.
I froze in my tracks and slowly turned around to face her,and as my eyes met hers I noticed her wink as she said," thought I did'nt see it uh?
So DOT Lady at the Utah Scale House,if you ever read this,
« Your not so bad after all!! »

« I wonder if the DOT is beginning to see that we are not too bad either »
