Default The Reason for the Season

Christmas is just around the corner, quickly approaching catching us all in it's whirlwind of organised commercial caos!

Christmas for me is a mixed bag of emotions.

Colorful lighting, Christmas carols, glistening white snow and the general atmosphere of this time of year is so exiciting and it seems like everyone is in good spirits, it's a bright, happy time of year!

On the other hand, Christmas can be a sad and lonely time of year for millions of people who are less fortunate.
I think of all the families this Christmas who will be missing loved ones killed in
the war.
I think of those who are sick and disabled and I think of the elderly who will spend Christmas alone because of children to busy with their own lifestyles.

I think of those who are incarcerated in prisons across North America and I think of those who must work to keep America going during Christmas.

I think of Police men and women who patrol and keep our neighborhoods safe, I think of the doctors and nurses who remain on duty at Christmas.

I think of America's truck drivers who by the thousands, travel along our dark lonely highways during the Christmas season.
Many of these truck drivers will spend Christmas in the cab of a truck by themselfs in the parking lot of an empty truckstop somewhere far from home
and family!

I ask that we keep Christ in Christmas this year by thinking of all of those who will not find happiness in Christmas, keep in mind that Christmas is a time for giving, not just material gifts but giving of ones self.

Take a few minutes and think how you can make someone's Christmas a little brighter, " It's the reason for the Season "

Merry Christmas to all!

Wildbill, you do my heart good! Excellent post, and thanks for the reminder. I plan to be wearing my 'Merry Christmas' button all season.. right close to my patch of the American flag that says "Try burnin this one".

The political correctness has become ridiculous.. and I for one make it a point to reply 'Merry CHRISTMAS' when someone says "Happy Holidays'.

To me, Happy Holidays is such a copout, afraid of someone being offended. Heck, I won't be offended if they wanna say Happy Hanukah, Happy Ramedah, whatever.. but dang it.. it IS Christmas to me, and I will say Merry Christmas back!
