Truck stop con game busted
Police in Bordentown Township, NJ – just south of Trenton – have arrested five men on charges of running an illegal three-card Monte card game at a truck stop.

According to the Trenton Times, the men, who range in age from 18 to 44, were all from out of state. Police are investigating whether the men are part of a ring suspected of conning truckers across the country.

Police say they got a call from someone at the Petro truck stop off Interstate 295 on Thursday, June 28, but that the group had fled from security guards.

Based on a description of their cars, police pulled them over near the New Jersey Turnpike and found cards, a small amount of marijuana and more than $4,600 in cash.

Police say they’ve had numerous reports of truckers being lured to the backs of truck stop parking lots to play cards, where they are then robbed of cash and jewelry.

However, the men arrested Thursday have not been charged with robbery, the Trenton Times reported.

It amazes me to see that game still works.. I remember first seeing it back in '93, the first time I ever drove. These brave suckers would jump up on the running board and bang on the window! "Hey man, you gotta come see this! This dude got a bunch of money, and he's just givin it away!" Same ol thing, you win the first couple of times playin a buck or two, then they say "hey man, wanna play for bigger money?"

Another favorite scam of mine is the 'car broke down' bit. Same dude is broke down for weeks!
