hate driving out west, new mexico, texas and arizona sucks!!!Too damn desolate and boring and too many hills! My company trucks are governed at 65 and not being able to maintain the speed limit and momentum are so frustrating!!!!!!
I love it out west, just about every where. Just turn on the Serius radio and let her go. Cruisin at it's best.
I don't even mind the bigger cities since I'm usually in and out in a day. What I hate is La.. The roughest roads in the US and it's usually a long ride from one end to the other. The worst being I55 north or south.
I have XM and go between the 80's and comedy channel. I however have a new least area to run, or at least, with a heavy load......had a 44k and a 45k load thru WV, MD & PA. Like i said in the other thread, our trucks are governed at 65 and it took me forever to get anywhere! And then my dispatch wonders why i had to send a Macro 29 to change my arrival time. Not to mention there were no schneider fuel points anywhere near my route, and boy, did i burn it up! lol
I am a westcoast load coordinator from Louisville, KY. and the westcoast is our bread and butter at the moment. We service all regions and the ones that make us the most money are multiple drop LTL loads to the Pacific NW, N/S Cal, and the eastcoast. While we also handle alot of midwest, southwest, southest and so on I found that those areas are just not as profitable east and west.
And to answer the above questions the worst points I have encountered so far are El Paso, TX - Albuquerque, NM, and Billings, MT.
I can get my trucks reloaded from just about any other point in the US.
River View Trucking does not go to NYC, New Jersey, New England, Canada, Mexico, West of CO. and very rarely go to Chicago.
I know running in the northeast is the least liked place to run. But isn't it in the northeast where you make the most money? I mean I don't like it but I will do it.
I don't see how a company can make much money going to just a pre selected number of states.

I used to pull a tanker for a company and we hauled 47,000 lbs (was a lite load) thru WV,MD, and PA probably 3 times a week. BTW our trucks were set at 65 also. But our trucks were setup to pull also.
I was just about to ask you if you drove for Schneider because I would see them all the time up around Neville Island at the Ashland Marothon plant.
I could leave Kenova,WV. on 64 and be in Neville Island (Near Pittsburg) in less than 5 hours pulling at least 47,000 lbs in the tank. It was about 9 hours to Philly from the same place.
I'll go to LA instead of NYC any day of the week. I prefer the west mainly because it seems like there is less traffic. It's a little remote in places, but I prefer it to the congestion and tolls.
