Default BioDiesel

A friend wanted to begin using BioDiesel on a trip - Milwaukee to Portland, OR, which he wants to "kick off" Friday. Hopefully I can get him to relate his experiences on this trip, and with BioDiesel.

Some questions he had are: do you add bio from a seperate pump, after you fuel with regular diesel? Is 5% OK to start and stay with, while I get used to the idea?

He was told the fuel filters will need changing up to 3 times, and wanted to know if there is risk to a high mileage engine? He was also told his tanks will look like they were polished inside, and it could be used for the whole trip.

He was told if 20% is run, filters may have to be changed several times and fuel system may be cleaned out too quickly. 50/50 20% can be run straight in warm weather, 2 or 5% in the fall and spring. Makes motor run noticeably smoother.

Where to buy BioDiesel
Flying J in Effingham, IL has Bio Diesel for the same price as regular diesel.

I'm interested in your venture with bio... please keep update on it. Thanks.
Hi, Max. Too heavy on the drives, even with permits, to go through MN. Had to follow DRIVER 14's preferred route, at least as far as Sioux City. So, no Bio, just yet.

The ride across 20, was rough, compared to what I remember from a couple of years ago. SW from Madison, was a better ride, and more scenery, than IA. Plus, a lot of IA was in the dark.

I will be jumping on 29 up to 90, and hopefully make some time. I would like to kick this thing off, on Friday.

Petro in Rochelle Il. had bio diesel for less than the #2 a few months ago when I went through there. I don't really know much about it but it seems to be catching on.

More preblended BioDiesel Terminals
Three New Terminals Announce Availability in Sign of Greater Petroleum Industry Acceptance
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – April 3, 2006
Petroleum distributors who deliver biodiesel to retail outlets and other customers in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area can now load pre-blended biodiesel on their tanker trucks. This means distributors there can eliminate the additional cost and inconvenience of making two stops to obtain the biodiesel and petroleum diesel, and purchasing blending equipment. Distribution Drive, a wholly owned subsidiary of Earth Biofuels, Inc. and Motiva Enterprises, an oil company headquartered in Houston, Tex., announced today that the Motiva Enterprises terminal in Dallas will now offer biodiesel at any blend level. BTW Bob, finally the government is smiling on alternate fuels, and bio is apparently at the top of the list.

I am from a freight brokerage in Louisville, KY. and one of my regular carriers refines BIO. He loves the stuff and tells me that it runs much cleaner, and that he can make for about 20 cents less on the gallon then the current National Average Diesel costs. I am sure I could get more info from him if anyone had particular questions.
