Default How do you buy a truck?

Hi Everyone!

I was hoping to get some advice. My fiancee has been driving for a year and a half OTR and I am going to be starting school and getting my CDL. We have thought about purchasing a truck, as we have heard that you can make more money this way, and we like the idea of the freedom that we can have as a team.

My questions are:

How much money can we really expect to make as an owner operator team?

How do you know a truck is good to buy and not a lemon? (Had a bad experience with a car once and don't want to go through that with what will be our source of income.)

Any suggestions on companies to go to after we buy the truck that will take me with no experience at all?

How much can you really expect to spend on insurance and maintenance for a truck?

Has anyone heard of the $999 down from Selectrucks and is that a good way to start off?

Thank you so much for your help everyone!!

Lemon's can come in any kind of truck. If you can get it go for a "NEW" truck then you will have good warrenties and such.

If this were myself I would talk to your driving school recruiter's and explain what you want to do.
Then maybe have your husband talk to his company and see if he can train you as a new student. Alot of companies will allow driver's to train after a year of driving solo.
As for reccomending any companies I can't help you there sorry.

Yes and most of these places are jokes......again if I were in your shoe's I would try to drive for a company for a year or so as a team build up alot of expierience and save some money up for a nice down payment on a "NEW" truck.
