Trucker undergoes surgery in adoption bid


A 6-foot-7, 500-pound trucker from Independence, MO, successfully underwent gastric bypass surgery at Renaissance Hospital in Dallas on Friday, Aug. 24.

A hospital press release stated owner-operator Gary Stocklaufer’s surgery was a “great success,” and Gary now hopes to lose 200 pounds or more.

The hospital did the procedure for free after the media reported that a judge refused to allow Gary and his wife to adopt a second child – named Max – because, in the judge’s opinion, Gary is obese, and therefore unfit to parent.


Being fat has nothing to do with your parenting skills. Are they worried it's a bad example? I'm big, and my daughter is average size. My parents were average, my brothers are average, I'm big. Same parents, different results.

Bull. I would SO sue.
