I forgot to mention the fact that many truck drivers are not only forced to be unwilling witnesses to daily Highway Carnage throughout North America but hundreds of truck drivers are credited with saving lives of people involved in these auto accidents.
There are also thousands of more truck drivers who save lives out there on the Highway who we never hear about and that is also a fact!
A good example of a hero truck driver is the quick intervention last week out on highway I-75 of a Hurricane Express driver who came upon a young boy who was walking down the middle of the busy road and who immediatly pulled his big rig on to the shoulder then jumping down from the cab and running back into the on coming traffic to remove the boy from danger.
Cars were swerving left and right to miss hitting the boy but no one would stop except the trucker.
This trucker is a hero not only for saving the young boy but for laying his life on the line that day for a complete stranger!
It turned out that the boy was a run away and deeply troubled but on that day his life was saved by a trucker who cared!
I watched the newspapers to see if there would be an article about the truck driver but it seems that it went unnoticed as do most heroic deeds by truckers.
Most truck drivers I know are involved several times a year in some kind of emergency intervention saving someone from disaster but as usual truck drivers seem to be quiet about their heroics.
You seldom hear a truck driver boast about saving a life, but they do everyday of the year and God Bless them for it!
