The advantages of buying a used truck from a dealership

In the hunt for a used truck a dealership is a viable option.  After all, the dealership in one place or another is where the truck originated from anyway so why not purchase one used from them as well.  This can be an easy one stop way to make a purchase of a quality used truck without all the hassle that comes with combing the newspapers and traveling all over the place.  Dealerships are great places to find the truck that you need.

One advantage that a dealership has over private party sales is the all in one location for everything.  Most private party sales require traveling to and from different places and can become time consuming.  At a dealership they can take care of everything all at the same time without ever having to leave the building.

You also have a much better selection of trucks to choose from when working with a dealer.  It is no secret that dealerships keep a lot of the trade ins they receive and sell them as used trucks to the general public.  Many times these trucks have been well cared for by their previous owners and are highly valuable.  This can work to your advantage as no matter how well cared for the truck has been; the dealer is still bound by the book value of the truck when selling it.

When you look at a truck from a dealership write down all of the pertinent information and go home.  Once home, jump on the internet and look up the book value for the truck.  Once you have that then you can go back and work out a deal.

Dealerships are often times capable of arranging financing as well.  This will save you a step from the private party sale.  It is also nice that dealerships have access to hundreds of financing options that may not be available to just anyone.  They can easily work out funding for the used truck you desire even if you have less than perfect credit.  This is a nice option in comparison to the private party sale where you may end up having to track down financing yourself which can mean a time consuming affair only to find out that the truck was sold to someone else for cash.

Dealerships also take care of the taxes, title and license plates for you.  This is a great advantage over the normal private party sale.  Instead of having to go straight to the license branch to get new tags, the dealership gives you a thirty day tag and allows you to pay the tax and title fee through them, once again saving a step.

All in all buying a used truck from a dealership can be a definite advantage over the private party sale.  Taking into consideration the time and money that can be saved, you are best to try the dealership before anything when looking for a used truck.
